Welcome!
I’m Thomas Covington Dyer. My friends call me Tommy. I help people digest what they read.
I am writing this newsletter roughly twice a month. In it I’m covering what I’m reading, the dialogues I have about what I’m reading (so I can really soak up what I’ve read), and what I’m learning from both.
You should subscribe to this newsletter if your sex reading life is a bit lackluster and you’d like it to be fantastic.
I grew up mostly in the suburbs of Washington DC and Salt Lake City in a white, middle-class household. I read a lot, played soccer, football, and lacrosse and when we moved to Utah when I was 12, I got to snowboard most weekends.
Reading-wise, I attended a strange undergrad by the name of St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland. At this school everyone reads the same books, referred to as “The Program”, at the same time each of the 4 years. Instead of reading text books or other second-hand sources we read the original sources, sit around a wood table, and with the guidance of a “Tutor” we converse about the reading trying to understand the author’s intended meaning.
I’ve been trying to read and converse like this more and more ever since and I think this same approach can make your reading life spectacular.
While my reading life could be greatly improved (and as I improve it I’m excited to see what it will blossom into), it is already pretty great. In this newsletter, I will share about my reading life, how I make it as great as I can make it, and how you can do the same. (Spoiler Alert: Digest what you read out loud with someone who’s also read the book.)
I hope you enjoy it and if you don’t, make a comment and I’ll make it better. And if newsletters aren’t your thing, try videos on TikTok, or Instagram maybe?
Thanks for your interest!
Tommy
